I had WAY too much fun revisiting my old songs and having AI re-interpret them. What a rock n roll blast!

And We Are All I

And We Are All I

Song Info

This track blends industrial rock aggression with a live-room atmosphere. It delivers a warning about manipulation, division, and the slow surrender of individuality by AI and the powers that control it.

Driven by pounding drums, crunchy guitars, and haunting layered vocals, the song paints a world where fear and control are packaged as safety and progress. The lyrics challenge the illusion of opposing sides and question the systems that profit from keeping people divided, distracted, and dependent.

Built around a relentless E–F–G progression. The guitar riff has been playing in my head for at least 5 years now and it feels so good to finally put lyrics to it and publish.

The riff came in just a few minutes many years ago. I finally decided to put serious effort into writing lyrics that matched the feeling I have each time I play the riff. There’s something rebellious it. Once I started, the words kept flowing and I had to delete 4 verses. Otherwise, the song was over six minutes long! I think I have way too much to say.

At its core, the song is about identity, free thought, and the fear of losing what makes us human. The “chip goes in” refrain becomes both a metaphor and a warning — a symbol of surrendering choice, belief, and individuality to AI systems that promise convenience while demanding obedience. Dark, provocative, and emotionally charged, this track tries to capture thoughts I have way too often.

Lyrics

[verse]
Plug in, chip in
Connect to the cloud
We’ll tell you what you want to hear
So you don’t speak so loud

[verse]
They make us think
There are 2 sides
There is no left
There is no right

[verse]
When the camera’s on
Their smiles a mile wide
The show must go on
And keep the great divide

[chorus]
What are we thinking?
How can we be so blind?
We follow the pied piper
Believe the same old lies
There’s only me and you
And we are all I

[verse]
Why not have one world
With an overseeing eye?
We’ll keep you safe
And tell you when to die.

[verse]
Truth is not what they say
Truth is they are afraid
That we will wake up
They may not get paid

[verse]
We know what’s best
You must trust the science
We say there is no god
Trust US…we are the highest

[chorus]
What are we thinking?
How can we be so blind?
We follow the pied piper
Believe the same old lies
There’s only me and you
And we are all I

[bridge]
You like being unique?
You like to think you can win?
That all goes away
When the chip goes in
I choose what to eat, when to sleep
What to believe in
That all goes away
When the chip goes in

[verse]
You see the difference I’m sure
If you don’t, you will
We’ll program you to
Bow to our will

[chorus]
What are we thinking?
How can we be so blind?
We follow the pied piper
Believe the same old lies
There’s only me and you
And we are all I

Time is Funny

Time is Funny

Song Info

This is a song inspired by my early twenties through my early thirties, when I packed up my guitar and left everything familiar behind to chase something I couldn’t quite define at the time. It’s built on memories of small-town nights, drinking at bars, smoking, shooting pool, and feeling like life was bigger than the place I was in. Looking back, those moments carry a mix of nostalgia and clarity, even if I didn’t fully understand them while I was living them.

As I moved through jobs and everyday routines, I kept feeling a pull toward something beyond the path that seemed expected. I watched others settle into that rhythm, but I always felt more drawn to movement and change than staying in one place. Over time, that inner push became impossible to ignore, and I followed it without knowing exactly where it would lead.

There’s also reflection on the people I left behind, not with anger, but with a sense of distance that naturally grew as our lives went in different directions. I had hoped some of those connections might stay stronger over time, but life has a way of carrying everyone elsewhere. In the end, this song became a way of working through old memories and perspectives, and it feels surprisingly liberating to listen back to it now.

Lyrics

[verse]
Packed my old guitar, got ready to fly
They said, “good luck, my friend” and said goodbye (goodbye)
I left with memories, good times behind
With friends I believed were one of a kind

[verse]
Friday nights drinking down at the bar
Smoking cigarettes, shooting pool in the dark (in the dark)
Talking shit, driving way too fast
Thinking I was tough… thinking I’d last

[Chorus]
Time is funny when I look back on mine
How could I stay, clockin’ nine to five?
Staying in one place just ain’t my style
It’s a big world, and I’m here a short while

[verse]
Working the night shift in a print shop grind
Wondering if there’s something more I should find (what will I find?)
Everyone else seemed content in that life
But I felt the pull… like I had to try

[verse]
There was a time when 9 to 5 felt right
But something kept pulling, my spring was getting tight
I knew it was there, somewhere in sight (outa sight!)
Gonna chase it down now, and it’ll be alright!

[Chorus]
Time is funny when I look back on mine
How could I stay, clockin’ nine to five?
Staying in one place just ain’t my style
It’s a big world, and I’m here a short while

[Bridge]
When I left, they all stayed behind
Never really tried… never changed their minds
I don’t know why, I just know I had to go
There’s a different road calling me down below

[verse]
Driving alone on a highway one day (what a day!)
Thinking about why I was heading this way
I looked to the sky, something shifted inside (inside)
Like a voice said, “now’s your time, time to fly” (let’s fly!!!)

[verse]
They said, “you won’t make it… you’ll be back”
Never to my face. Years later I heard that
They faded away like smoke from a stack
I saved them a place… but they never came back (not ever!)

[Chorus]
Time is funny when I look back on mine
How could I stay, clockin’ nine to five?
Staying in one place just ain’t my style
It’s a big world, and I’m here a short while

You just don't get it!

You Just Don’t Get It

Song Info

Written with my step daughter in mind when she was a teenager. We had a strained relationship back then and I guess I just didn’t get it. She would hide in her room until it was time to ask me to drive her somewhere. She kinda reminded me of myself in many ways.

Lyrics

You came into my life, out of the blue
You didn’t like it, you hid in your room
Nothin to say, get outa my way, make some room
I’m goin my own way, I got nothing to say, to you

And she said…Ahhh

Leave me alone, You just don’t get it!
Leave me alone
Leave me alone, You just don’t get it!
Leave me alone

Now that it’s time, to go for a ride
Ain’t it funny, how the feelin subsides
The black cloud of doom turns to grey for a while
Another con on the way, here it comes with a smile

There’s something inside, you gotta hide, a great big wall
Gotta lot to say, so much on your mind and then you fall
It’s your time just like it was mine, cause after all
You gonna lose your mind, if you bangin your head on the wall

And she said…Ahhh

Leave me alone, You just don’t get it!
Leave me alone
Leave me alone, You just don’t get it!
Leave me alone

Leave me alone, You just don’t get it!
Leave me alone
Leave me alone, You just don’t get it!
Leave me alone

Falling Rain

Falling Rain

Song Info

Written on a rainy day. This is one of my favorite new songs as it describes how I was looking out my man cave/garage while it was raining one day. The lyrics came rather quickly as I was appreciating my new home and family while staring at the moss covered oak trees in my front yard. The wind was blowing thru the trees and I was finally feeling free. No more worries, no more pain. Just the sound of the falling rain.

Lyrics

I’m walking down this dusty road
With a heavy heart and a lighter load
The sun is setting in the west
And I’m just looking for a place to rest

Oh the wind is blowing through the trees
And I’m feeling like I’m finally free
No more worries no more pain
Just the sound of the falling rain

I’ve seen the world and I’ve seen the sights
I’ve lived through the darkest of nights
But now I’m here and I’m standing tall
And I’m never gonna let myself fall

Oh the wind is blowing through the trees
And I’m feeling like I’m finally free
No more worries no more pain
Just the sound of the falling rain

My baby’s home for the night
Hearing the same rain
While she sleeps so tight
I know she feels the same

Oh the wind is blowing through the trees
And I’m feeling like I’m finally free
No more worries no more pain
Just the sound of the falling rain

Do You Feel It

Do You Feel It?

Song Info

“Do You Feel It?” came together pretty naturally. It started as a simple groove with some lyrics I had left over from another song, nothing too complicated, just something that felt good to play. But once I started sitting with it, more lyrics came, and the song kind of found its own direction.

I added an acoustic guitar and harmonica intro that felt right for the mood, simple and honest. That same combination comes back in the middle of the track, which I really liked as a way to bring things back down before building back up again.

The lyrics ended up going somewhere a little deeper than I originally planned. There’s a tension running through the song between feeling controlled and slowly waking up to something bigger. The idea that we’re all going through a lot of the same things whether we realize it or not. The “Do You Feel It?” refrain started as a simple hook but ended up meaning more as the song developed.

By the end it builds into something that feels more like a shared moment than a solo one, which is really what I was going for.

It’s not the most complicated thing I’ve written, but sometimes the simple ones say the most.

Lyrics

Do You Feel It?
Come on! I want you to feel it!
Oh yeah!!

[verse]
I want to walk outside
There are people I want to see
Not today, all your credits used up
Stay inside, we need you asleep

[verse]
It’s too scary out there
Stay inside and breathe our air
It’s filtered and cleaned (breathe in)
So you keep that same blank stare

[chorus]
We breathe the same air, shed the same tears
Do You Feel It? (Do You Feel It?)
The same flags, same fights, same fear
Do You Feel It? (I can feel it!)
We know what’s right, we know what’s real
Do You Feel It? (Do You Feel It?)

[verse]
Keep your head down
Stay on the path we choose
Then everyone wins
You got nothing to lose

[verse]
We’ll keep you in control (plug in)
And keep you in fear (breathe in)
We’ll tell you what to think
And what you want to hear

[chorus]
We breathe the same air, shed the same tears
Do You Feel It? (Do You Feel It?)
The same flags, same fights, same fear
Do You Feel It? (I can feel it!)
We know what’s right, we know what’s real
Do You Feel It? (Do You Feel It?)

[bridge]
I’ve had enough, (I think it’s showing)
They stopped us from growing!
I’ve had enough, What are we doing?!

[break]
There’s something coming
Do You Feel It?
We’re all connected
Do You Feel It?

[chorus]
We breathe the same air, shed the same tears
Do You Feel It? (Do You Feel It?)
The same flags, same fights, same fear
Do You Feel It? (I can feel it!)
We know what’s right, we know what’s real
Do You Feel It? (Do You Feel It?)
[chorus]
Do You Feel It?
Do You Feel It? (I feel it!)
Do You Feel It?
Do You Feel It?

I’m feeling it!!
Are you feeling it?!

[outro]
Do You Feel It?
Do You Feel It?
Do You Feel It?
Do You Feel It?

Lonely No More

Lonely No More

Song Info

Written in the mid 2000s during a pivotal chapter of my life, this song carries equal parts anger and optimism – two emotions that don’t always make sense together, but somehow did at the time. It’s an honest look back at the minor wreckage of my younger years, the kind of living that feels brilliantly invincible until you wake up one day and realize the universe has been keeping score.

The industrial edge came naturally from where I was mentally – ground down but not broken, running on friction and forward motion. Turns out that’s a perfectly reasonable place to write a song from, once you stop feeling sorry for yourself long enough to pick up a pen and guitar. The chorus is simple because the truth was simple. After all the noise, the chaos, and the spectacularly wrong turns, the one thing I knew for certain was that I didn’t want to be alone anymore. Sometimes that’s enough to build something new on – who knew.

Lyrics

Taking me back to my early days
I wonder how I made it through my crazy ways
Smoking and a toking, drinking up the pain
Woman after woman, but the same refrain

The 80s and the 90s tried to sweep it all away
But the ghost of who I was keeps pulling me back to stay

One thing I know for sure
I don’t wanna be lonely… no more.

Now I’ve come down, calmed down, counted up the cost
Staring at the wreckage of everything I lost
Pour another whiskey, chase it down with gin
Watch the wheel keep turning, starting up again

There must be something more than chasing down the win
Without a face of fake smiles and a plate full of sin!

One thing I know for sure
I don’t wanna be lonely… no more.

The machine keeps grinding, never lets you rest
Pushed me to the limit, put me to the test
Iron in the fire, smoke behind my eyes
Living in a town full of crazy lies

Every scar I carry is a lesson from the fall
Thought I’d hit the bottom – when love broke down the wall

One thing I know for sure
I don’t wanna be lonely… no more.

Now the cloudy days are gone
And suddenly less feels like more
When you’re near me I know for sure
I’ll never be lonely no more!

I’ve been through the fire, walked out through the ash
Traded all that thunder for something built to last
The noise has gone quiet, the static’s fading out
I finally know what living is about

No use looking back on those desperate days
The man that I’ve become burned away the haze

One thing I know for sure
I won’t be lonely… no more!

Round and Round We Go

Round and Round We Go

Song Info

I really dig this groove. Another anti-establishment song based on an acoustic guitar chord progression I play all the time as kind of a warm up. In my head, it’s a variation of a Bo Diddly rhythm. To me, the groove is almost hypnotic.

Lyrics

It’s clear to me
When you look around you’ll see
Smiling faces
But we all disagree

and round and round and round and round we go

But deep inside
There’s nowhere to hide
From the truth that was a lie
We’ve been taken for a ride

We’re all the same
Working hard, Playin the game
My tears are raining
On everyone’s parade

and round and round and round and round we go (where do we go?!)
and round and round and round and round we go
and where we’re going, nobody knows

It’s Plain to See
When you look around you’ll see
We love, we want, we feel
We just want to be

and round and round and round and round we go (where do we go?!)
and round and round and round and round we go
and where we’re going, nobody knows

and round and round and round and round we go
and round and round and round and round we go

But deep inside
There’s nowhere to hide
From the truth that was a lie
We’ve been taken for a ride

and round and round and round and round we go (where do we go?!)
and round and round and round and round we go
and where we’re going, nobody knows

The Devil is Coming

The Devil is Coming

Song Info

I’m sure this will go over well. Nothing like a good controversial song to get things a bit spicy. Here is an AI generated description of my song and it pretty much captures the essence of the song…sorta.

The Devil Is Coming is a hard-driving rock song with a deep blues soul that I wrote, arranged, and put everything I had into. Musically, I built it on a grinding guitar riff that channels the raw tension of classic blues while pushing into modern rock territory. I wanted the arrangement to build deliberately – verse by verse the intensity tightens, the rhythm section locks into a relentless groove, and the chorus explodes with the kind of visceral energy that grabs you by the collar. The gritty ad-libs and call-and-response moments were intentional – I wanted it to feel urgent and alive, like a warning broadcast from the edge of a storm.

Lyrically, I drew this song from my deep concern over what I see as a coordinated globalist takeover of the world – the rise of the New World Order, the erosion of individual freedom, and the deliberate inversion of truth and morality by those in power. The Devil in this song is not merely a supernatural figure – he is a symbol of the shadowy forces I believe are reshaping society, injecting populations with compliance, flooding the world with deceptive symbols, and turning reality upside down so that good appears evil and evil appears good. I wrote these lyrics to confront that darkness head-on, with words that are equal parts alarm and accusation.

But I refused to let this song end in despair. The bridge and outro are my rallying cry – a shift from warning to defiance, calling on every listener to pull together, trust their instincts, and fight back with truth as their weapon. I believe that collective awareness is the most powerful force against manipulation, and that’s what the outro is about. We’re done being silent. I wrote this song because I want to help people to wake up, stand up, and refuse to bow to the darkness. The voice of the people will be heard.

Lyrics

The Devil is coming
You better step aside
My heart keeps drummin
But, there’s nowhere to hide
Cause The Devil is coming!

He’ll inject you with his serum
With a smile as you cry
No way out now
No matter how hard you try

Symbols abound
Everywhere I turn
He tries his tricks
Until you burn

The Devil is coming
You better step aside
My heart keeps drummin n pumpin!
But, there’s nowhere to hide
Cause The Devil is coming!

If we all pull together
And read between the lines
Our collective energy
Will tear down the blinds!

Look out! He’s coming!

What’s good is bad
What’s bad is good
He twists the truth
Like he knew that he could

It’s upside down
When it’s right side up
He’ll drain you dry
From a poisoned cup

It’s left when it’s right
It’s right when it’s wrong
But we see through his game
And we’ve known all along

The Devil is coming
You better step aside
My heart keeps drummin n pumpin!
But, there’s nowhere to hide
Cause The Devil is coming!

We won’t bow to the darkness
We’ll stand in the light
The truth is our weapon
And together we fight

So open your eyes now
Don’t believe every word
We’re done being silent
Let your voice be heard!
Cause The Devil is coming!

I Blame You

I Blame You

Song Info

Written with my wife Ausra in mind. She sees right thru me and I’m thankful for it every day. I’m a very lucky man. Originally written on the piano with an easy but cool A minor / G riff. Love songs are cool.

Lyrics

I blame you for knowin’
Everything I’m thinkin’
You called me just to say
The words I wanted to say

Now that you’re here with me
Life keeps getting better!

I blame you
For making me smile this way
I blame you
For showing love in every way
I blame you
For seein’ right through me
I blame you
For showin’ me the way

You never miss a beat
When my thoughts go astray
You stay and tease me softly
And chase my clouds away

Now that you’re here with me
Life keeps getting better!

I blame you
For making me smile this way
I blame you
For showing love in every way
I blame you
For seein’ right through me
I blame you
For showin’ me the way

I blame you for laughin’
When I feel like I could fall
You lift me up so high
And I can’t help but love it all

Now that you’re here with me
Life keeps getting better!

I blame you
For making me smile this way
I blame you
For showing love in every way
I blame you
For seein’ right through me
I blame you
For showin’ me the way

Yeah, I blame you

I'm Not Free

I’m Not Free

Song Info

Inspired by my step daughter and a poem she wrote while in middle school. This is a cool little riff in D. The original has an odd time signature that the AI doesn’t understand but it’s interpretation is pretty good and captures the D riff nicely.

Lyrics

I am not happy, I am not free
Gonna break these chains that are binding me
I am not happy free, I am not free
Will I ever be?
Will I ever be?

I feel my heart race
I feel myself running
I feel my pockets
I’m looking for money

A stranger in the night
What will happen to me
I dream of happiness
But why can’t I be?
But why can’t I be?

I pretend I’m not alone
I pretend I am back at home

I’m gonna cut loose
Gotta get away clean
Help me escape
From my captivity

I cry when I rise
Water surrounding me
Now I understand
It’s not up to me
Will it ever be?

I wake up dreaming
I cannot sleep
I reach out to touch it
But it escapes me

I hope for another
Opportunity
Because I’m not happy
I am not free
I am not free

I am not free
How can I every be
I am not free
I am not free

The Minstrel

The Minstrel

Song Info

Stay till the end and you might want to sing along! With the help of AI, this is a song about an imaginary wandering minstrel. With guitar in hand, he spreads happiness with the music he plays. A song with an ideological story of hope. And, hopefully and enjoyable a guitar riff and fun sing-along parts.

Lyrics

The Minstrel rides
Chasing peace through the night
There’s a road that leads to forgiveness
He’s sure gonna find it alright
Till then he rides with the ghosts (beside him)
Till the morning brings the day light

Sunrise paints the dew
Something grand, wild and new
So he tips his hat and moves along
But the shadows pull like they always do
Like a broken prayer or a half-sung song

But every soul he touches, wants to sing along (hey!)

Every town’s got a door that’s been shut too long
Every heart’s got a place where the hurt’s gone wrong
But the good news is the Minstrel still sings his song
And everybody’s invited to sing along (come on!)

Na na na na… na na na na na (everybody!)
Na na na na… (hey!) na na na na na

He’s just passing through, and he changes the air
Leaves a little light hanging everywhere
Like a spark that keeps broken hearts alive
And he rides on, cause his music will survive

The Minstrel wanders, taking it all in
With miles behind him, his breath is the wind
That carries his music to lands far and wide
You’ll hear him coming and you’ll feel alive

It keeps him going, cause his music will survive

Every town’s got a door that’s been shut too long
Every heart’s got a place where the hurt’s gone wrong
But the good news is the Minstrel still sings his song
And everybody’s invited to sing along (everybody sing!)

Na na na na… na na na na na (everybody come on!)

Batter Up

Batter Up

Song Info

This is my nephew’s favorite song…so far. The original recording was wrote and recorded in about an hour and messed up the words quite a bit, but it served it’s purpose – I wouldn’t forget it. AI did a great job of interpreting the song. It’s another anti-establishment song about the deep state. The batter is each one of us. Swing well.

Lyrics

Batter Up! Yea! Yea!
Swing now or I’ll take your life
Batter Up! Yea! Yea!
Play the game and you might survive
Batter Up! Batter Up!

Put your money where your mouth is.
Take a cut just like the masses.
Jump right in and take your chances.
We’ll show you just what real romance is.

The man will come and take you away
And make you feel like it’s just another day
And when you wake up, you’ll realize
They’re gonna cut you, right down to size

Batter Up! Yea! Yea!
Swing now or I’ll take your life
Batter Up! Yea! Yea!
Play the game and you might survive
Batter Up! Batter Up!

They made me think that it’s not worth a try.
But then it hit me, it’s all just a lie!

Media stories filled with fear
You’re gonna suffer, the end is near
What can I do? Let me protect you dear!
I can help, my voice is loud and clear!

I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be
The way they say, you think it should be
The truth is somewhere between you and me
Look deep inside, and then you will see

Batter Up! Yea! Yea!
Swing now or I’ll take your life
Batter Up! Yea! Yea!
Play the game and you might survive
Batter Up! Batter Up!

Batter Up! Batter Up!

My Pa's Radio

My Pa’s Radio

Song Info

Mildly inspired by my dad and grandfather who introduced me to music as a kid. I wanted to write something in the Cats in the Cradle vain…as if I could come close!

Lyrics

Have a listen son – Then listen to me
Have a listen my son – Then listen to me

Play for me son, you’ve come a long way
The tunes you make will be heard some day
The smile you put on my face today
Will be heard by everyone in their special way

In the years to come, you’ll see what I mean
In the years to come, you’ll see what I mean

Sit down son, and play me a song
A little melody and a lotta heart and soul
I promise you, you’ll never go wrong
When you’re rockin on my Pa’s radio
Keep on rockin on my Pa’s radio

You sure can play son, and unlike me
The songs you play… so magically
You play that guitar son, as loud as you please
Just make sure you’re playin… in the right key!

I want you to know what it’s like to really fly
I want you to know what it’s like to really fly…high!

Play for me son, you’ve come a long way
The tunes you make, will be heard some day
And everyone that hears in their own special way
Will have the same smile you put on my face today

You played me a tune and everything was alright
You played me a tune and everything was alright

Sit down son, and play me a song
A little melody and a lotta heart and soul
I promise you, you’ll never go wrong
When you’re rockin on my Pa’s radio
Keep on rockin on my Pa’s radio

Can't You See?

Can’t You See?

Song Info

I think this is a kinda catchy hook. The song was inspired by my step daughter who at the time was a teenager and always hiding from us parents thinking we didn’t notice.

Lyrics

Sometimes you want
someone to show you the way
Sometimes you know
exactly what you want to say

When tomorrow means
as much as it does today
All I want to know is… if there’s another way.
Can’t You See

I want… I need…Love!
Why not..can’t I…
No matter what I say…Love!
You can’t see me…
I am… I am…
I’m not sure what Can’t You See?
All I want is… Love!
Can’t You See… Why Can’t You See me?

Sometimes I want to say…
Something perfect because, hey!
You think you know the way…
But my place is on the way…
To my place…the other way…
To my place…now Can’t You See

I want… I need…Love!
Why not..can’t I…
No matter what I say…Love!
You can’t see me…
I am… I am…
I’m not sure what Can’t You See?
All I want is… Love!
Can’t You See… Why Can’t You See me?

Can’t You See me… Love!
Oh what you’ve done to me
Why Can’t You See? Love!
and what you’ve done to me
Can’t You See … Love!

Can’t You See me… Love!
Oh what you’ve done to me
Why Can’t You See? Love!
and what you’ve done to me
Can’t You See … Love!

The One That I Am

The One That I Am

Song Info

A song for my wife Ausra whom I love dearly. This started out on the piano as a very simple hook in C. The chorus version the AI chose reminds me of the Partridge Family.

Lyrics

The one that I am with you
The one that I am
The one that will comfort you
You know who I am

The days that you spend with me
The one that I am
When I look in those big brown eyes
You know who I am

All we need to do is say
I love you

Baby, I love you,
Baby, I love you,
Baby, I love you,
Baby, I love you,
The one that I am

Sometimes I wonder how
The one that I am
Is the one that you love and how
You know who I am

All we need to do is say
I love you

Time keeps moving on
We keep rollin on…too
Our love grows stronger
A bond to hold on…to
The one that I am
Is the one that loves you!

Pretty-Lady

Pretty Lady

Song Info

I really like this tune and I’m using some strange chord combinations in the original recording. The AI interpreted it farily well. I was imagining a single guy walking the streets where the action is when I wrote this.

Lyrics

Pretty lady looking so fine (so fine)
Pretty lady don’t pass me by (don’t pass me by)
Pretty lady wish you were mine (Aaa so fine)
Pretty lady don’t pass me by

When I saw your face… (wow)… for the first time
I wanted a piece… (a piece)
A piece of your mind… (you make me so high)

Pretty lady looking so fine (so fine)
Pretty lady don’t pass me by (don’t pass me by)
Pretty lady wish you were mine (Aaa so fine)
Pretty lady don’t pass me by

When I saw your face… (wow) for the first time
I wanted a piece… (a piece)
A piece of your mind… (you make me so high)

When I saw your face… (wow)
for the first time
I wanted a piece… (a piece)
A piece of your mind… (you make me so high)

Pretty lady…(looking so fine)
Pretty lady…(you make me so high)
Pretty lady…(wish you were mine)
Pretty lady…(don’t pass me by)
don’t pass me by (wish you were mine)
don’t pass me by (don’t pass me by)

I just wanted to say hi

Can We Hurry Up?

Can We Hurry Up?

Song Info

A tongue and cheek song I wrote in my head while driving my teenage step daughter somewhere. She was always in a hurry to get somewhere so she could get somewhere else in a hurry.

Turns out riding shotgun with a teenager is basically a masterclass in blues songwriting. She stared at her phone, I stared at the road, and somewhere between the mall and the movies this song wrote itself.

This is a more lyrically polished version with a new arrangement.

Lyrics

Can we hurry up
So we can hurry up
Gotta get there (now!)
Then we’ll hurry up

She’s sittin’ next to me
Going out of her mind
Face buried in that phone
Leaving the world behind

Thumbs move like lightning
But her eyes are somewhere else
Rushing to get nowhere
Chasing something for herself

And she said

Can we hurry up
So we can hurry up
Gotta get there (now!)
Then we’ll hurry up

Downtown, movies, the mall
Something’s gotta give
Gotta fill that shopping cart
She’s got a life to live

Don’t you dare ask her why
Don’t even start to say
She just knows she’s gotta go
So get out of the way!

And she said

Can we hurry up
So we can hurry up
Gotta get there (now!)
Then we’ll hurry up

Now I’ve been driving these roads a long long time
She never looked up once to see the sky
She’s got a restless soul and I don’t know why
So I’ll step aside and let the guitar try (Else I’ll lose my mind!!!)

One day she’ll slow down
Look up from that screen
Realize the ride itself
Is part of the dream

But until that day comes I’ll just
Shake my head and smile
And drive her somewhere, nowhere…
Just one more mile!

Can we hurry up
So we can hurry up
Gotta get there (now!)
Then we’ll hurry up

And when we get there…
She’ll probably wanna leave

Can we hurry up
So we can hurry up
Gotta get there (now!)
Then we’ll hurry up
